We made it!!!

End Mileage in San Diego....we'd say somewhere about 5000 miles!!! Not bad:)

So after much demand we are finishing the BLOG! As you may have guessed we have made it to Sunny San Diego....and we are ready to come home:) Just kidding! So far its been great. We are spending our days housesitting our friends Suzanne and Damian's home and watching their Bull Dog buster.

We have seen a bunch of apartments and hope to find OUR home soon! We still haven't heard if our stuff has made it here or not...so again if anyone drives by 469 Shawmut please let us know if its still there!

Thanks to everyone who tuned in and thanks for all the support on the road! It was a great journey and we are looking forward to what's to come!

Vegas Baby Vegas

End Mileage in Las Vegas: We have obviously lost track at this point but have gone about 4000 miles ...PHEW! Are we there yet?

So we arrive in the city of Sin and took it much easier than you would expect. We were visiting with Mark's friends from College who live about 15 minutes off the strip. Now they drove across country to move to Vegas from PEI in a two door Alero with a Great Dane, a Golden Retriever and two cats. All while pulling a UHAUL. AND I THOUGHT OUR DRIVE WAS BAD!!!!

Anyway..seeing as though Mark and I will be back in Vegas in a couple of weeks we spent the second night at the RIO for the seafood Buffet dinner (not bad) and then at Fontane in the Bellagio. This is an outdoor patio/bar that overlooks the musical water light show seen in Ocean's 11. It was very nice. We only lost $80. :) WE ARE ALMOST THERE!!!

We can't wait to get up bright and early and head to our FINAL DESTINATION!!!

Phoenix is HOT!

End Mileage in Scottsdale, AZ:

Well, the ride here was pretty straightforward. About 5 hours of cacti and tumbleweed. Gets boring after a while. We arrived in Scottsdale at about 7 p.m. on Saturday, just in time for a fabulous dinner cooked up for us by Mark's folks.

We spent most of the weekend relaxin at the house, swimmin in the pool, playin with the dogs, and hangin out with Kiera and the folks. Kiera is full of energy, as usual. See pics below for some examples :)

Mark had an interview in Tucson on Monday, so he shaved the beard for it. The interview went well, and he's mighty glad to be rid of what little facial hair he had.

While Mark was at the interview, Leah hung out in Scottsdale and hit a Yoga class with Michelle. I think that's the first physical activity for either of us on the whole trip!

We're off to Vegas today to visit with Kilburn and Debby for a couple of days. Can't wait! Mark's first time :) Wish us luck at the tables!!

Missiles, Mexican and More

We had a GREAT time in New Mexico. We spent the day at the White Sand's Missile Range where Leah's Aunty Penny raised her family for many years. This was also the research, development and testing site of most U.S. missiles. It was a very cool stop on the trip.

We then headed back into town for some FABULOUS Mexican food at La Posta in Mesilla, the town where Billy the Kid was tried and convicted. Yummy:)

We then headed out near El Paso for a great dinner at Cuzin' Mike's. Needless to say we've gained a little weight!

Thanks Aunty:)

Off to Scottsdale AZ!

New Meh-he-ko

End Mileage in Las Cruces:

Well we finished our last long drive of the trip. Its smooth sailing now. We left Denver fairly early with a lunch stop in Santa Fe. Unfortunately we didn't get to spend much time there because we got an unfortunate flat tire right as we arrived. So we spent lunch in an auto shop. Thank goodness we were right in town and it only put us about an hour behind. Good excuse to go back some day:)

We arrived to a fabulous dinner prepared by Leah's Aunty Penny. Spent the night catching up and listening to stories of Leah's mom's childhood.

Big day tomorrow...until then!

2/3 of the way there

So its 7 am and we are getting an early start on our last week of the trip. We had a fabulous time in Colorado. We had a great first night of catching up with Amy and Tom over some good beer food and a few too many drinks:) We also participated in the Bar Trivia contest and came in 3rd. We'll you might think that isn't bad but there was one question where Tom knew the answer but Mark insisted his answer was right...we will just say that we came in 3rd instead of first because of it:)

We got an early start yesterday and headed up to the mountains where Amy and Tom have there cabin. We spent the whole day just relaxing and fishing. It was great! As you can see Tom was very successful...Mark not so much! Oh well it was a great dinner anyway!

So we are off to Las Cruces this morning, with a stop in Santa Fe for lunch. Its going to be about a 9 hour drive. One of the last long ones!

Later....

The Long Road to Colorado

End Mileage in Littleton, CO: 81489 (432 Miles)

We left our nice cozy hotel room in Rapid City, South Dakota Tuesday morning and headed off to check out Mount Rushmore. We had breakfast at the monument and then went to check out the carvings. They’re pretty cool to see, but really not much different than looking at them in a picture. Regardless, it’s cool to be able to say that we’ve been there.

The black hills, in which Mount Rushmore resides, are incredibly beautiful. We drove up Iron Mountain road, a twisting track up the mountain of the same name. There are three short tunnels on the mountain which were intended to frame the view of Mount Rushmore. Leah, needless to say, went through about 3 rolls of film yesterday.

We took a road out of South Dakota and into Wyoming called route 16a. This included a scenic drive through Custer state park. All the way through we had Bison running in front of our car, antelope dashing around, and had to stop and wait for a donkey to cross the road.

Once we hit Wyoming, the drive became incredibly boring. For miles and miles on I-25, as far as the eye can see, there is nothing but dusty farmland. This goes on for about 4 hours. If you can help it, avoid taking this southbound route through Wyoming. It’s tough to stay interested.

Once we hit Colorado, it was a short jaunt to Denver and Littleton. We arrived at Leah’s friend Amy’s place around 5 pm. We’ll be spending two days chillin here, and then we’re of to New Mexico.

Mark is about to shave the beard by the way. He has an interview on Monday in Tucson, AZ, so he needs to look presentable. No big loss. He was about to resort to facial Rogaine. Take a look at the final beard update pic. Don’t feel bad about laughing, we don’t J
